You Gave Me Mold - I'll Sue You!

In addition to the fiasco caused by the downstairs neighbor’s contractor – Nickle and Dime Freddy, apparently there was a leak in the pipes downstairs from my unit’s bathroom – You’d think the smell of human waste might have been a hint…

As the year plus long remodel continued in the unit downstairs, the contractor (Nickle and Dime Freddy) told the neighbor downstairs there was mold in his walls.

Hmmm, again, the neighbor is on the HOA board so they immediately got a mold remediation company to come over, rip everything out and found the leak coming from the sink in the main bath in my unit.

Ok, no biggie; let’s go ahead and fix it.

Oh, and also, don’t use the sink, shower or toilet in that main bathroom – FOR A MONTH.

Of course, I’ve documented everything with the photographs to the left that show the interior pipes in the shower and under the sink were perfectly dry.  Oh, aside from being bipolar, OCD and ADHD, I’m also a little dyslexic – the photographs are actually on the, um, right? side.

Once the repairs were completed by the mold remediation company, it was time for Nickle and Dime Freddy to continue his remodeling.

One day, there was some heavy banging and thumping on the walls and pipes underneath the main bathroom in my unit.

Ok, this is common for NDF (Nickle and Dime Freddy).

Finally, I was able to use my bathroom again; granted there’s is a second bathroom in the unit, but what a hassle having to get used to a different bathroom after about 13 years…

After washing my hands in the main bathroom sink, I hear a dripping sound.

Apparently, someone (NDF) decided they needed to move pipes around to get their remodeling going.

Um, here’s a tip, DON’T BANG ON PIPES!!!

The idiot broke the pipe and drain underneath the sink in my main bathroom.

I told the neighbor downstairs who swore it wasn’t his contractor.  I called the mold remediation company, they sent someone out who said someone had broken the pipes after they’d left.

YEAH, NO DUH!!!

The neighbor had NDF come up and fix the pipes.  Actually, NDF sent one of his flunkies to do the fix – the moron used the same broken pipe with some putty to put it back together.

I tested the drain, still leaking and the workmanship was really shoddy.  Now I’m not a contractor or an expert in residential construction, but I am a Certified General Appraiser with almost 39 year’s experience and I can tell when an idiot has tried to fix something THE WRONG WAY!!!

I called the owner downstairs and sent him pictures of what the flunky did.

NDF come up and fixed the broken pipes himself.

HOWEVER, when he took the pipes apart, he found something that looked like putty or plaster used for interior walls (like when you’re remodeling and have given your wife a blank check).

I kept a sample of the plaster/putty just in case, but NDF used his trusty wet/dry vac and cleaned out the pipes.

I asked him how that could have gotten there, he said apparently someone stuffed it down the drain from the sink.

Hmm, well I’m the only person that lives here and I don’t do putty or plaster work.

He didn’t say anything else…

See pictures to the left…

GRRRRRRRRRRR – the RIGHT!!!

Except for the putty/plaster, you can see that everything is dry.

The inside of the shower was dry, as was the area beneath the sink (there’s an old stain on the paint from before I moved in), even the interior of the wall adjacent the toilet is completely dry.
